The Sunbird’s trunk light was apparently staying on and draining the battery before I got the car. So, instead of unplugging it, the former owners just cut the wire to it.

I fixed it by installing a magnetic light switch meant for a garage or closet.

Good light in the rear cargo area is   underrated. I had to upgrade the ones in the forester.

I upgraded the ones in my E36 M3. I mostly uploaded the photos here to host them for my thread on bimmerforums.

Here it is

I keep meaning to upgrade four of the five boot lights in the Skoda. The OEM ones are £40 a pair. If I get the ones for the boot, then I’ll need to get two more pairs for the under seat lighting and the front door ‘puddle lights’.

The fifth light in the boot is a rechargeable removable torch also.

I bought a pack of 10 led and changed the trunk light, the courtesy lights, front /side  and rear markers on my forester. I also went led backup lamps and that was a huge difference.

It sure helps at night. You can see one of them on the right, there is another on the left as well as above. The smart thing is they thought about the cargo cover being extended and those lights are below that level while the upper one will light up the upper area.

The fifth light in the boot is a rechargeable removable torch also.

When talking to a largely American audience, it might be better to use the word “flashlight” instead.

So I ignore the British, Irish, German, French, Australian , New Zealanders, Canadians, etc... good to know.

Yet in the U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, it’s a torch.

Also, context, of course it’s a flashlight/torch. It’s not likely (even without a picture) to be a tiki torch.

I'm English, I speak English, I write English. Dear God.

And yet, the people in those countries also understand the term “flashlight”.

I was just posting a little advice. No insults. No need for the passive-aggressive response.

Well I’m sorry for my response, but your initial response came across as passive aggressive, hence my reply.

The fact we call it a torch and in the context of being a light in the boot/trunk makes it self explanatory though. Just as many know hood/bonnet, trunk/boot, gas/petrol, windshield/windscreen, etc...

Ye’, sorry but it came across as, ‘we speak American here’, as in ‘we speak American here, so must you!’.

Can we just agree, this whole thing was a waste of time and move on!?
